RETAIL FICTION — Grimelange Editorial

For Grimelange, we developed a visual system that repositions the product within a staged environment that sits between retail space and operational reality.

The setting borrows from functional interiors: cleaning tools, storage elements, industrial surfaces. These objects are not treated as background, but as active components that construct a narrative around maintenance, repetition, and process.

Garments are presented in a state of suspension; folded, hung, or placed - never fully activated, yet never entirely static. This in-between condition allows the product to exist beyond styling, closer to a system than a scene.

Color plays a critical role in defining hierarchy. Bright, almost synthetic tones contrast with neutral surfaces, creating a controlled tension between utility and expression.

Rather than idealizing the product, this approach frames it within a working environment; where use, handling, and routine become part of its identity.

The result is a constructed reality: not a store, not a studio, but a space where product, function, and context continuously negotiate their roles.
